USS Iowa

Today I was finally able to go to the USS Iowa. I have been wanting to go for years. A few months ago I told my brother that I really want to go and he said he wanted to take me and today we finally went. It was even more incredible than I imagined. The battleship was giant and so were the guns and missiles on it. After exploring the ship we went to lunch. The place was in the harbor and we could see the water from inside... it was a beautiful day. Well where we went has seafood. So today I tried oysters for the very first time. They are not as bad as my mom has been telling me for years. I kind of liked them, although the big ones I didn't like that much. Now I can say that I have tried oysters (3 to be exact) and been on the USS Iowa. Here are some pictures from today...

Cafe Mocha Cookies

This weekend my friend and I made cookies. They were super delicious! Even the batter was... I never like cookie dough. We both love coffee... like a lot... hahaha! So when I saw this recipe on pinterest I knew this would be the perfect thing to make. http://www.tablefortwoblog.com/cafe-mocha-cookies/ We had to do a little trial an error with the baking times due to my annoying oven. On the third bath we finally perfected it! It was quite exciting.

This is a picture of them... not my picture of course. They looked exactly the same though which never seems to happen. While we were waiting for these yummy treats to come out of the oven, we worked on a 2000 piece puzzle. Yeah we got some done but it is not even half way done and I have already been working on this puzzle for a couple of weeks : / It was an all around really fun day though.

Blueberry Lemon Poppyseed Muffins

MMMM... the smell of fresh baked muffins is roaming around my house. Tonight I made blueberry lemon poppyseed muffins and oh my oh my they are delicious! We had a lot of blueberries in the fridge and I don't like to eat blueberries by themselves. The texture of blueberries just gets me. I went on pinterest to see what I could make with them and I saw that you can combine blueberry muffins with lemon poppyseed muffins. Those two are my favorite! Once I saw the recipe I knew I had to make it. Let me just say that I now have a new favorite muffin :) Here are some pictures I took before and after I put them in the oven. Sorry that the pics are kind of blurry... my camera phone likes to make me frustrated.

Instead of using a cupcake pan and making twelve muffins, I used a muffin pan and made six amazing muffins. If you make them the way I did remember to bake them a little longer. Do the toothpick test to find out when they are ready.

Baked Garlic Brown Sugar Chicken

Tonight I thought I'd help my mom out with dinner... well really that was an excuse to try a new recipe :p This recipe has been something I've been wanting to try since it looked so easy and delicious and finally I remembered to make it. It was baked garlic brown sugar chicken and it was super yummy! Here is a picture (this is not mine, I got it from the website with the recipe http://www.daydreamkitchen.com/2012/08/baked-garlic-brown-sugar-chicken/)

On the side I made asparagus and microwaved a potato. It was all incredibly easy and our tummies are very happy. I urge everyone to make it! You will not regret it.
